Why do linear guides need to be chrome plated?

Ordinary steel linear guides can meet basic operational needs in conventional indoor dry environments, but in practical use scenarios such as automation equipment, precision machine tools, outdoor equipment, humid processing workshops, and dust corrosive working conditions, the shortcomings of bare steel guides are very obvious.

Untreated guide rails, when exposed directly to air, are prone to problems such as oxidation, rust, surface mottled, and point corrosion when exposed to water vapor, acid alkali mist, cutting fluid, dust impurities, etc. Once the guide rail rusts, it will directly cause the slider to run stuck, increase friction resistance, and increase operating noise. The precision positioning accuracy will rapidly decrease, which not only affects the overall stability of the equipment, but also greatly shortens the service life of the guide rail and slider. Frequent replacement of parts will increase equipment maintenance costs and downtime losses.

At the same time, ordinary guide rails run back and forth with friction for a long time, which can easily cause wear and scratches on the surface, resulting in increased gaps, deviation in movement, and other situations, which cannot meet the requirements of high-precision, high-frequency, and high durability automation production.

The chrome plating process is a mature surface strengthening solution for the pain points of linear guide working conditions. By electroplating a dense chromium layer on the surface of the guide rail substrate, it is equivalent to creating a high-strength protective coating for the guide rail, fundamentally solving the problems of rust, wear, and poor corrosion resistance of bare steel guide rails. At the same time, it improves the surface smoothness and sliding smoothness of the guide rail, adapting to more complex and harsh industrial use scenarios.

Chrome plated linear guide product series

Our factory's chrome plated linear guide rail is completely processed based on conventional standard guide rail substrates, retaining the original installation dimensions, assembly accuracy, and interchangeability. There is no need to change the equipment installation structure, and ordinary guide rails can be directly replaced. The mainstream commonly used specifications are complete and suitable for various automation equipment, precision machinery, CNC equipment, conveyor equipment, etc.

1. Linear guide conventional specification series

Covering the three mainstream series of HG, EG, RG and MG, including commonly used specifications such as 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 45, corresponding to different load levels. HG heavy-duty chrome plated guide rail is suitable for heavy-duty, high rigidity machine tools and stamping equipment; EG medium-sized chrome plated guide rail is suitable for small and medium-sized automation modules and transplanting equipment; MG micro chrome plated guide rails are designed for small precision equipment, instruments, and micro slide tables to meet the high-precision operation requirements of light loads.

2. Subdivision of Electroplating Process Categories

According to customer requirements, it is divided into two types of industrial models: hard chrome plating and decorative chrome plating. The industrial hard chromium coating has a uniform thickness and higher hardness, with a focus on wear resistance, manufacturing resistance, and corrosion resistance, designed for long-term high-frequency operation of equipment; The decorative chrome plating layer has a higher surface finish, excellent rust prevention effect, and better appearance texture, making it suitable for scenarios with dual requirements for equipment appearance and protection.

3. Customized products

Support customized services such as non-standard length cutting, special thickness coating customization, local electroplating, and precision chamfering at both ends. The hardness and thickness of the coating can be adjusted according to the customer's equipment working conditions, and it is suitable for special working environments such as high temperature, high humidity, acidity, alkalinity, and dust.

Chrome plated guide rails can delay their lifespan to some extent and are less prone to rusting, but their accuracy is not as good as non chrome plated guide rails. At present, ordinary grade micro MG series linear guide rails that do not require high precision and can be chrome plated. Everyone can take what they need
